What's your "New Normal"?

What even is the "New Normal" anymore? Recently there has been an immense amount of changes throughout the world. How can we feel like things will ever go back to a "normal" state? What even was "normal" before?

With a global pandemic and protests and so much uncertainty in the world, it feels impossible to focus on what's right in front of you.

Coping with stress and emotions on a normal level can be manageable. It's when other things get in the way that we really break down and fail. We have all dealt with stress, but when external forces demand us to halt in our tracks, how do we overcome this? The Coronavirus outbreak forced all our lives to a screeching halt. Some lost their jobs and uprooted from their lives, and some got irreparably sick. All these external factors take part in how we handle our stress. Even if you have found something in the past that helps you cope with your stress, these uncontrollable events continue to turn your life upside down. There’s nothing you can do about these external factors – nothing that can make them seem better. The unknown that lies ahead of us right now puts an undue burden on how we cope.

Once your life is turned upside down, your typical coping mechanism tends to go into overdrive. You seek the things that once made you happy and feel better, but now you’ve found yourself in a situation that you don’t know how to control.

ARCH Detox is an outpatient addiction recovery center devoted to you in these trying times. We are open and accepting all inquiries about recovery. We know that in a world that feels overwhelming, it can be extremely difficult to make the changes necessary to alter your habits. ARCH Detox has a different way of approaching detox. By incorporating recovery and sobriety into your life, you will also learn to set realistic goals and overcome challenges you never thought possible.

No time is the “perfect” time to make a change. But amid all these uncertainties in the world, wouldn’t you rather focus on bettering yourself before you take on the weight of the world’s problems? We are here for you at ARCH. We are here to help you get past these times and to practice the skills to do it again and again in the future when things get tough. It’s not the destination, but the journey you take to get there that makes all the difference.
